What if the Clone AND Droid Armies Joined The Rebel Alliance? Let’s explore the depths of this scenario in the video.
Captain Rex surveys the data rod given to him by the Martez sisters for any useful information. One of the first things he finds is that several command codes were listed after the droid was deactivated.
The sisters explain that their allies used the droid to activate the other battle droids during their escape. Rex stares at the droid and considers this prospect. Ordinarily, he doesn’t put much faith in battle droids, but he doesn’t have many options.
He only has a handful of clones in his organization. If what the sisters are saying is true, then this might provide him with the necessary numbers to do some real damage to the empire.
Rex thanks the sisters for his help and studies the data. Aside from battle logs and troop movements, Rex also finds that it was made on Geonosis and decides to head there with his clone resistance.
It isn’t hard to find the ruins of the factory. While they fan out and set up camp, Samson establishes sensors to pick up for Geonosian wing vibrations. Thankfully they do not have to wait for long as a scout force of the Geonosians soon emerges, brandishing their blasters as they charge at the small camp.
Rex steps forward and to their surprise, drops his blasters to the ground.
Rex: I don’t want to fight!
The Geonosians look at one another as Nemec uses his datapad to translate his words into their language. Their voices crackle amongst themselves as they keep their blasters trained on the clones, pointing out how the Empire is occupying Geonosis.
Rex nods his head.
Rex: The empire, yes. But we’re not part of the empire. We chose to leave it.
This doesn’t convince the drones who counter that the clones serve the Empire and since they are clones, they must be serving Palpatine.
Rex responds by pointing to his scar and then showing a display of his inhibitor chip.
Rex: Before. The empire is trying to control us, to make us worker drones. But we took out that control and now we want to fight them.
He holds up the data rod towards the Geonosians.
Rex: We want droids, like these. Lots of them, to help us fight.
This time, the warriors seem more excited s. A few begin nodding their head and agree to take them to a secret meeting with their queen.
When the queen hears their story, she is intrigued and agrees to an alliance with the clone resistance. Although most of their major factories are destroyed, they still have a handful of smaller ones scattered across the Outer Rim and agree to activate them. In exchange, the clones will also act as an officer corp for the droids, training and leading them into battle.
It is an odd change for the clones who spent most of the war fighting against the droid armies, but now have to lead them. However, they still accept this task and begin organizing the new droid army. The Geonosians send secret messages to the remnants of the CIS.
Soon leaders begin to contact Rex and his men. Among these is Governor Tawny of Desix, but she soon comes under attack from the Empire. Unfortunately, by the time they hear about the attack and organize a response, Tawney is already dead. However, the new imperial garrison is still not fully established, offering the optimal test to their new droid army.
Captain Rex stands on the ridge overlooking the capital of Desix city as he prepares the attack.
Rex: All right, the Empire’s garrison just got here so we hit them hard and fast, and we don’t give them time to regroup. Remember, we’re working with the droids now. Keep them in line, and we’ll win this.
Rex signals the advance as one of their AATs fires at the city gates, smashing it open. The city garrison tries to figure out what happened. Those on the walls open fire at the advancing force, taking down many droids, but hundreds more advance into the city.
At their head, Rex shouts orders over his com-link as he leads the frontal charge toward the governor’s building. As he turns a corner, he spots a squad of stormtroopers crouching behind makeshift barricades and orders his unit to advance. Super battle droids surge forward, their blaster fire mechanical and inaccurate, but the sheer volume of it sends the stormtroopers crouching for cover. Rather than return fire to halt their advance, many simply hide behind cover and allow the droids to approach.
Rex: Push forward!
Clones attack from the flanks, leading destroyers and commandos while standard battle droids advance down the middle. The barricade is soon overrun. The rest of the city plays out similarly to this battle as the newly raised stormtroopers struggle to face the droid's numbers.
Many lack training and few have experience. However, it isn’t a victory everywhere as many B1 commanders aren’t so lucky and struggle to advance, unable to counter dug-in troopers with E-web blasters the same way clones can.
