The First Battle of Geonosis, known most commonly as simply the Battle of Geonosis, was the first battle between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic in the conflict that would become known as the Clone Wars. It would be the first major combat of the Grand Army of the Republic, as well as the first major battle the Jedi would fight in years.

After the arena battle, most of the fighting took place in the desert. The early stages saw much of the fighting near checkpoint Alpha, where the 501st Legion quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with. One soldier in particular achieved several feats, such as taking various command posts, destroying enemy infantry, and securing a secret holocron. Eventually, Jedi Master Mace Windu joined the battle and secured a CIS bunker, pushing the Republic forces closer to the spires, which held Techno Union ships.
