Naomi Halas was the University of Delaware's Electrical & Computer Engineering's Distinguished Lecture Series speaker on April 22, 2015. Halas, the Stanley C. Morris Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, spoke on the topic “Plasmon-Enabled Processes: New Opportunities in Cross-Cutting Science and Emerging Technologies.” Halas is the founding director of the Laboratory for Nanophotonics at Rice University and a pioneer in the field of plasmonics, creating the concept of the “tunable plasmon” and inventing nanoparticles with resonances spanning the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum.
