Christian Gottlob Höpner - Prelude in F major

Описание к видео Christian Gottlob Höpner - Prelude in F major

This short prelude in F major was composed by Christian Gottlob Höpner (1799 – 1859). Interestingly, Höpner was a largely self-taught musician and didn't start playing the organ until age 17; and he had no formal musical training until the age of 28. From the wages he received after his apprenticeship as a journeyman weaver, Höpner bought musical textbooks, practised independently on a small organ and attempted compositions. He was advised by composer Johann Nepomuk Hummel to devote himself entirely to music. Höpner served as organist at the Kreuzkirche from 1837 to 1859.

Played on the sample set for the Mascioni organ of the Convent Church in Azzio, Varese, Italy. Sample set by Piotr Grabowski.
