Though there are many age old vegetarian eateries in Mysore, Mahesh Prasad is always special. It could be due to their home like ambiance, quick service, consistent quality and hygiene, above all, the taste. We don't miss an opportunity have a meal, particularly breakfast at Mahesh Prasad whenever we are in Mysore.
Their idly sambar dip with spongey idlys and a thick sambar will satiate those who would want an extra iota of Bella (jaggery) in their sambar.
Udina Vade was a palate pleaser with its text book perfect crispness and the velvety dough. However, the Vade has drunk some extra oil in the process.
Chow chow bath is one of the best, we have had recently. The Kara Bath was not runny like the ones we get in Bangalore but it was not completely dry as well. Each spoonful of that Kharabath was a staircase to heaven. Kesaribath stood out as a tough competitor to Kharabath with its less unctuous, subtly sweet but full of flavour traits.
Bisibele bath was another stunner, where the flavour from spices like Cinnamon, gloves and Marathi Moggu were subtle, giving way to Tamarind and other spices to exert their presence.
Masala Dose, a non-greasy version with a thick palya and a generous coating of Kempu Chutney was perfectly roasted and it hit the spot.
That was definitely an endearing breakfast which not only fills your tummy but also your heart.
