THE FIFA COUNCIL approved a slot allocation of six direct slots and 2 intercontinental playoff slots

In 2023,, the FIFA Council awarded automatic berths for all three host countries, MEXICO, CANADA, AND THE UNITED STATES, leaving CONCACAF WITH 3 slots and 2 playoff slots to be decided through Qualification in the following format:

In the first round, 30 teams will be divided into six groups of five playing home and away games, the top 2 teams per group will qualify for the final round.

The 12 qualified teams will be divided into 3 groups of 4. Also playing home and away matches, the top team of each group will qualify directly for the 2026 world cup. The 2 best second places will qualify for the intercontinental playoff, for an extra chance to qualify for the FIFA world cup.
