Testing The Bosch Sx Lightweight Motor At Sea Otter Classic 2024: Is It Really 600 Watts?

Описание к видео Testing The Bosch Sx Lightweight Motor At Sea Otter Classic 2024: Is It Really 600 Watts?

Bosch SX mid-power motor tested at Sea Otter Classic 2024. I’ve learned in the past that motor torque is what change the speed of the mountain bike on climbs, and motor watts is what determines top speed. That’s why I’ve proclaimed in a previous video that torque is the most important factor on a mountain bike motor.

This video proves that because even though this excellent motor claims 600 Watts , I could not go very fast up a steep hill, no matter how hard my effort or how fast my cadence. I also tried entering the hills very fast, but I could not maintain my speed as the hills got steeper

That being said, they still may be one of the best mid power motors available because it has excellent Bosch torque sensors, power, modes, and modular batteries. With Sram transmission drivetrain, allowing shifting under load, the very fit bike rider is rewarded. But it’s no replacement for displacement, and it’s hard to tap into 600 W on mountain bike steeper trails. On flats and rollers it pulls very well but the 20 mph speed limit gets in the way we predict this may be an awesome motor for gravel bikes and commuters.
