CREATORS NETWORK Originals presents ‘Bharat: Ek Khoj’.
This series is all about finding the hidden gems of our Incredible India.

In this week’s episode, we are traveling to the sandy paths of Rajasthan to present to you an oral yatra of recital—Kavad. This splash of color laced State is incomplete without the mention of Mewar. The south-central part of Rajasthan was once governed by the Rajputs; now it is governed by lip-smacking Dal-batti churma, and gewar. However, the land of delicious food is also the birthplace of an exquisite art form, one that is close to extinction in contemporary times, Kavad. A story on wheels— a shrine, a homage to the epics—was visioned to further the local tradition while paying respect to local saints, folklores, family anecdotes, and epics. As interesting as the art form is, it’s derivation is even more. The word ‘Kavad’ finds its origin from the Hindi word, ‘Kivaad’ which means a ‘wooden door’. The beauty of Kavad goes beyond its appearance; multiple wooden doors open to disclose a tradition, a practice, that binds people together.

Witness this magical show of an audio-visual treat to the soul that the Rajasthani winds spreads glee to far, and wide. Kavad, a storyteller on wheels, is truly a component of Incredible India that we are completely mesmerised with.

About the series:

This series focuses on accentuating the people who inspire, places that are undiscovered, roads less travelled, cultures unexplored, brilliant architecture, and finally communities that live in unison despite their differences. With so much negativity in the world, Bharat Ek Khoj is an effort to show the positive in (what one would call) the worst times of our life. In each episode we will bring one about such a person/place/thing/community/art which is not eminent but totally deserves to be. This series aims to celebrate and make one aware of the diversity in India.

#COVIDHero
Gurpreet Kaur from New Delhi, India has dedicated her entire time during the lockdowns in India. During COVID's 1st wave in 2020 and 2nd wave in 2021 in India, Gurpreet fed over 300 stray animals.
While the country was struggling through hospital beds & oxygen, the world neglected stray animals who practically depend on human beings for every meal. Gurpreet spends most of her salary on them and even takes care of them when they are ill.
Coronavirus pandemic has affected us all but there are some like Gurpreet who always put others over their own selves.
