Helmet cam and iPhone video from photographer Nick Moir. About a week earlier an attempt to halt the giant Gospers Mountain fire using backburn failed and fire escaped eastwards and southwards into the Grose Valley. It then threatened most of the communities along the Bells Line of Rd in the Blue Mountains and eat of Sydney. On the 21st Dec 2019 westerly winds ahead of a southerly cold change drove the fire eastwards on the south side of Bilpin then forming a “dead man zone” on the northern flank as the southerly impacted. The fire destroyed several homes and businesses in the village. Further west in Dargan , Bell and Clarence dozens of homes were destroyed.
