Best full Canon EOS 4000D | Rebel T100 review.

The Canon 4000D is also known as the Canon Rebel T100 and is the entry point camera for Canon's DSLR camera range of cameras. It is cheap, light and small compared to other Canon cameras and even to the Canon 2000D/T7, which is the next one up on the Canon list. To keep the 4000D so competitively priced, Canon have cut some corners and removed some functions that you might expect to see on a DSLR camera. But I think you will see that these cuts are largely cosmetic and that you do get a full DSLR camera here, just without some of the bells and whistles.

File size
The Canon 4000D produces an 18 megapixel image. This in turn can produce a 50 megabyte file, which is large enough for most requirements. It is certainly big enough for websites, social media and most print needs. The Sony sensor, which produces the 18 megapixel file also produces really good video. It produces Full HD, which is 1080P and it will produce standard HD, which is 720P. And in both cases, the video is very smooth, the color reproduction is very good.

The Processor
The brain of the Canon 4000D is the DIGIC4+ processor. It's not the most recent processor, but it is a really good, reliable workhorse. And it can produce very clean and very crisp images with excellent color reproduction. And it also does a very good video too. And the processor takes the image from the sensor, whether it's a still image or a video, and saves it onto the memory card, either by compressing it down, or by transferring it straight across as a raw image.

Presets
The Mode dial on the Rebel T100 offers everything that you would expect on a normal DSLR camera. It has 8 presets, which you can use to take some decent pictures as you take the camera out of the box. The presets available range from portrait, shooting landscapes sport close up, and also even a food option. Each preset is designed to shoot good pictures under specific circumstances and get good results. It also has 5 creative filters, which mens you can do some editing of your pictures in camera. This is great if you want to edit pictures and then use the WiFi compatibility on this camera to upload your images to social media.

Lens
If you buy this camera, you will probably buy the 18-55mm kit lens to go with it. This lens has also been modified to make it lighter and cheaper. So you lose the Image Stabilization (VR) option on the lens. However, it is of little consequence and the quality of the glass and the internal design is just as good as its predecessors.

What the Canon 4000D | Rebel T100 doesn't have
This camera is made of plastic to keep down the price and the weight. But I have had my 4000D for a year and is still works perfectly. If you don't bounce it off the floor it will be fine. Also this camera does not have a shutter cable socket. The shutter cable would be used for long exposure photography, like landscapes (with filters) and night-time photography. The camera shutter speed will go down to 30 seconds, which is fine for nearly everything, so unless you want to shoot exposures longer than this, you probably won't notice. The main issue that came up at the camera launch is the fact that it will only work with Canon EX flash guns. This is so that you don't buy a cheap third party flash for the camera. There is a get around for this. Watch the video! Then there is the lack of an on/off switch (it turns on in the Mode dial) and that you have to manually pop the built-in flash. But none of these really affect the quality of the pictures or videos you can take with this camera.
Good points about the Canon 4000D | Rebel T100
The price! This is a great camera for the price, offering superb quality images and videos. It has everything a beginner or novice would want from a DSLR and allows you to start knowing nothing and build your knowledge up to professional level – taking great pictures from day one.
