In this video, you will review important reminders to consider when installing a TD sanitary temperature controller from ifm, as well as how to access the written instructions from the product datasheet on the ifm website. The TD series temperature sensor is designed for use in common sanitary manufacturing applications, such as food and beverage production. Improve product quality and machine availability with these ifm temperature sensors. The one-piece housing is fully welded with 316 stainless steel and has IP69K rating. The hermetically-sealed construction eliminates moisture ingress, the most common cause of drift.

The TD series uses an RTD element that is bonded to a thin film carrier, reducing the thermal mass of the electrical leads. Then, the film carrier and RTD element are attached to a specialized assembly carrier that positions the RTD into a precise location. It preloads the RTD with constant force against the probe’s inner sheath wall, minimizing the amount of thermal mass separating the RTD and the media. This reduces the common disadvantages seen in other RTD configurations related to poor uniformity, repeatability, and response time. The construction of this sensor is 3A approved, providing the highest level of integrity for sanitary applications. The TD is commonly used on:

• CIP Skids
• Heat Exchangers
• Tanks

The embedded IO-Link technology provides fully a digital signal for temperature values without A/D and D/A conversion losses. It is easy to program for recipe changes and for automatic device replacement. Temperature data can be sent to any higher level software systems for trending, traceability, and real-time process monitoring. The LED display provides additional functionality for those that want visibility to process values at the sensor itself.
