2023 - Cupiit Yurartet Day 2

Описание к видео 2023 - Cupiit Yurartet Day 2

Cupiit Yurartet performs live on the UAF Davis Concert Hall stage as part of the 2023 Festival of Native Arts.

Group Bio: Cupiit Yurartet are Cup'ik/Yup'ik members come from Southwestern region of Alaska. Five Alaska Native Elders gave blessings to form this group in 2004, and the family songs started pouring into the group. The songs and dances are about survival, subsistence hunting, and harvesting food from the tundra throughout the year. We are honored to carry these ancient old songs, and songs that are composed by the younger generation as well.

Cupiit Yurartet members live in Anchorage, Alaska and get together regularly throughout the year to practice the songs. Our once young children have grown into young adults, and have become passionate about in keeping our tradition alive through our dance group.
