Описание к видео Solstice Garden Tour: I’m Trying To Growing Enough Food to Feed Us for a Year | Food Security

I'm Kelly. It's a beautiful summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Today we’ll walk through my SW Ohio Zone 6b garden and greenhouse—what I’m growing, how I’ve planned it, and how I adapt to the changing weather and the demands of the season. From onions and garlic to sweet potatoes, brassicas, beans, three sisters interplanting, herbs, blueberries, black raspberries, pawpaws, and beyond, each bed has a story.

This season has brought unusually wet and cool weather, which has delayed some projects and tested my patience—but the raised beds and greenhouse helped me stay on track. I'm sharing how I’m interplanting, preserving soil health, and growing with intention.

To bolster food security, I aim to grow as much of my own food as I can, using compost, leaf mold, local inputs, and homegrown starts. It’s about knowing where my food comes from and taking comfort in the work that brings it to the table.

I also introduce ideas I’ll be expanding into a new video series—showing each crop from seed to plate: how I grow it, cook it, and preserve it. Be sure to subscribe if you’d like to follow along!
