Simple DIY steam box for steam bending wood at home

Описание к видео Simple DIY steam box for steam bending wood at home

How I bend wood at home.

Instead of going through the hassle of building a wooden box to steam bend wood, I decided to use a 200mm (8"), thick wall irrigation pipe. Made the whole process quick and easy.
The pipe I used is 2.5m (8ft) long as I am planning on bending longer pieces of wood in the future.

Used an old 20L (5 gal.) oil drum I cleaned up and filled with water to generate the steam needed to bend the wood.

To feed the steam from the steam generator to the steam box I used a piece of silicone type pipe.

Everything held up well considering the heat associated with generating and using steam.

SAFETY FIRST
Remember, generating steam in an enclosure can cause an explosion. If you build a steam box always add a pressure release hole for steam to escape.
