Leeward Mark Rounding in Breeze - Marc Jacobi Sailing

Описание к видео Leeward Mark Rounding in Breeze - Marc Jacobi Sailing

Lots going on here in a short time. May have to watch a few times to catch all the nuances. Slow motion would have helped in parts of this clip, but I was unable to add that - apologies. Big take-aways:
0:16 Keep speed up as long as possible before rounding.
0:24 Get some downhaul on. The windier it is, the sooner/harder one pulls it on.
0:28 Approach mark wide, end up close-hauled RIGHT NEXT to mark.
0:30 Trim quickly, so sail matches heading. If windy, trim lags a little behind, allowing sail to luff and boat heel to remain constant throughout turn.
0:33 Hike hard to get boat up to speed, with constant angle of heel and as little tiller movement as possible to let water flow attach to daggerboard and rudder after the big turn. Crank on remainder of downhaul needed.
Vang is still loose, so keep sheet tight so sail remains flat - this requires HIKING and careful steering. When boat is settled, quickly crank on vang.
