This happens because, after a brain stroke, the brain is unable to function properly due to interrupted oxygen and nutrient supply, which it constantly needs to operate.
The brain is responsible for the functioning of different body parts, so if the part accountable for hand or finger movement is interrupted, the problem of extension and flexion occurs. Neuroplasticity helps patients, and movement in the body starts developing. The condition of the patient being able to flex the fingers easily, but the extension is still hard due to stiffness in the finger muscles, indicates a mismatch in the balancing pace of inner and outer finger muscles. This results in difficulty extending their fingers.
All this can be overcome by diligently following the three steps below:
Oil Massage: The oil provided, if applied properly and massaged onto the fingers as shown in the video, can help reduce stiffness.
Stretching Fingers: The exercise of stretching fingers outwards leads to weakening the stiffness of inner finger muscles, resulting in gradual extension of the fingers.
Exercising with a rubber band: This technique will help improve extension and strengthen the muscles.
