In effect the 'battle' was won beforehand as soon as the people of Cricklewood and their supporters decided to stand together to prevent the fascist march from passing through the centre of the town without a struggle and without the intervention of van loads of police. The handful of BNP/EDL marchers in the end were persuaded to turn back, after having made their protest against the alleged presence of the offices of the Moslem Brotherhood in the borough. So the result was a bloodless victory for Cricklewood
