The Lake District | Little Mell Fell & Great Mell Fell

Описание к видео The Lake District | Little Mell Fell & Great Mell Fell

Join us on our walk to tick off another couple of Wainwrights. This time in the Eastern Fells, we headed up the 'Mell Fells'........Little and Great.

Parking the car close to Brownrigg Farm on the relatively quiet road that takes you to Matterdale End from the busy A66, we set of through the farm itself and in to the open countryside, before starting the steady, gentle climb up to the summit of Little Mell Fell on its eastern flanks. As you will see from the video the yellow bloom of the gorse bushes was absolutely beautiful. On the top we were treated to a spectacular view down to Ullswater and cracking views of so many of the regions finest fells including Helvellyn and Striding Edge. From the summit we resisted the temptation to retrace our steps and headed down to the estate track and very quiet road to the west where we followed this round the foot of the fell back to the car.

Here we enjoyed a well earned rest and a spot of dinner before taking the short trip up to the second hill of the day, Great Mell Fell. Short and steep but a lovely walk through the old trees to the summit, the hill gave us a stunning vista. Stars of the show were of course the mighty Blencathra and Skiddaw to the North West.

After a well earned rest we made our way back down to the car via a slightly different path. Whilst there being no marked paths on the OS maps there are many to choose from and all will see you safely off the hill.

Thank you very much for watching and if you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments below. There are many more of these to come so please subscribe.
