Acrylic Pouring Collaboration Sarah Mack Gail Burstyn Fantastical Creature Creation! Fluid Abstract Art

Hello Friends!! Welcome back to a very exciting special edition, today we are doing a collaboration with two of my very dear friends, Sarah Mack and Gail Burstyn! These two ladies are incredibly creative and inspirational, and I am honored to work with them today! This is going to be so much fun!
We all used a 20x20 gallery wrapped canvas, and had mostly the same colors, but our objective was to create a Fantastical Creature, like Gail does so beautifully! Lets get started!

My Colors are:
Golden's
- Turquoise Phthalo
- Iridescent Copper Fine plus
Arteza Pearl Marmalade
Arteza
-Pearl Sea Green plus 24K Gold
and DecoArt Emerald Green
- Pearl Pistachio
DecoArt Extreme Sheen
- 24 K Gold
Artist Loft Flow Acrylic
- Black
My Pouring Medium is:
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
Paint + a bit of Water
Floetrol
There is NO Silicone in Any of My Paint.

I begin by taking extra care to lay down a basecoat, making sure that the sides and edges are completely covered before I start. I will not be tilting this piece, so its better if they are covered perfectly before we start. My base coat is thinner than the rest of the paint I am using.

I have an idea of what kind of creature I want to create, so I start out by thinking about the shape of the body and head and how the paint will spread. One of the most important things I have found is to NOT USE TOO MUCH PAINT. If there is too much paint then it will spread out and the design changes, or it could crack. Because there is no tilting, you want to use very little paint in the pour.
I use a ring that I cut off of a 5 ounce Dixie cup, and layer some paint in... then I repeat that one more time in a different location.
The next step is to use a palette knife to create lines and shapes using the cells.
These are not hyper realistic photos, this is a Fantastical Creature. It doesnt have to be perfect, its Fantasy... let go of expectations.

I ran into a bit of a problem with the face.. I was overdoing it, I think.. I probably would have liked it better if I had not twirled the cup, but rather just pushed it off to the side. If the face had more solid black with lots of cells around it. After seeing parts of Sarah's and Gail's pours and how they moved the cup to create more shapes I want to try this again! For this pour I didn't want to move the ring around much because I wanted a round head and round body. I am so inspired after watching them both work, I have a million ideas in my head now.. and now that I know I can do it and the paint won't crack I'm feeling a lot more confident with the 'less is more' concept for this type of pour.
The consistency of my paint felt good. The only color that I felt was an issue was the black that I used in the pour, it was just a little too thick. The thinned out version that I used as a basecoat has a slightly different depth of color to it that I can see (that ring around the cat), and I see it on one spot on the corner where I dripped and covered it with the thicker black. Next time I'm going to mix up a much bigger container and split it in half so its the same consistency. I think I may have gotten a different result with thinner black in the pour... more of the negative space with cells that I wanted, rather that so much color in the center.. and I'm not going to twirl the ring in a circle anymore lol..
In the end I'm happy with the Fantastical Cat that I created.. I think shes really cute! It reminds me of a Matroyshka doll, probably all the intricate curves and curly lines. She has a very sweet face.
