Rahul Sharma is the son of the legendary Pt Shivkumar Sharma, the doyen of Indian classical music. Rahul started training in the Shatatantra Veena, popularly known as the Santoor, from the age of 17 and mastered to perfection the technique of increasing the melodic range of the Santoor to make the music more appealing to current audiences. He successfully introduced the Santoor in world music through collaborations with international icons such as Kenny G, Richard Clayderman and Kersi Lord. At the fourth session of the Bengal Classical Music Festival, held in Dhaka in 2014, Rahul Sharma played Raag Kaushik Dhwani on the Santoor and enthralled the audience. Satyajt Talwalkar’s able tabla accompaniment added great depth to his recital.
