Welcome to Mean's Woodshop! And welcome to the first video of my new basic "Know Your Wood Species" series! The point of this video (and series) is to help inform beginner woodworkers (or those who wish to start woodworking) about different wood species and what to expect when working with them.

In today's video we're looking at the wood that you will more than likely first work with: pine. Pine is a very common, affordable and underrated wood species. Odds are that you're probably no more than 6 feet from some pine right now. Whether it's the stud in your wall, a piece of plywood on your furniture, or some kind of decorative piece in your home, pine is everywhere. It is a very beginner friendly wood to start working with (and smells great too). We discuss the pros and cons of this wood, and projects you might wanna use it for.
