Puriyadhanshree Tarana | Kalaa Utsavam 2020 Part II

Namaskar and hello everyone!

This video is part two of my performance as part of the Kalaa Utsavam Dance Stage LIVE open call which took place on 29th November 2020 at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Singapore. In it, I have performed tarana. Below are the details of this piece:

A tarana consists of a set of meaningless bols derived from Persian phonemes that are consistently repeated. Set to Raag Puriyadhanshree and Taal Teentaal, this tarana is interspersed with compositions such as tukdas, tihais, paran, aamad, and chalan. The piece was choreographed by my Guru Jyotika Joshi who currently teaches at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS).
