Pomfret Green Masala (Mangalorean) is a mildly spicy curry made using little coconut or coconut milk and is served mostly with steamed rice. Ground masala has to be fried nicely before making the curry as this adds flavor to the curry. Do check the full video for the recipe.

Recipe:
3 Fresh Pomfrets, clean, wash, cut and apply little salt and turmeric and marinate for 20 mins
Grind:
Garlic cloves - 3
Green chillies - 5
Ginger - 3/4 inch
Small ball of tamarind
3 to 4 chopped or sliced medium onions
Fresh coconut - 1/2 cup (4 tbsps)
Corriander seeds - 1.5 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper corns - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric pwd - 1/2 tsp
Corriander leaves - 1 fist full
Grind all these to a thick smooth paste adding little water.
Add 2 tbsp oil to an heated utensil
add 1 medium sliced onion and saute it till it turns brown.
add the ground masala and fry till the raw smell of garlic and ginger disappears.(IMP step)
add the masala water from the blender and adjust the curry.
adjust the salt. You can add little lemon juice if required to balance the taste.
when the curry starts to boil, add the marinated fish and cook for 2 mins.
when the curry starts to bubble turn off the flame.
Serve with steamed rice, bread or chapatis.
