The SX-KN6500 was released in 2001 and it was Technics flagship arranger keyboard.

In 1999, Technics introduced the KN6000 (successor of the KN5000). Due to hardware problems, the KN6500 replaced the KN6000, and added extra sounds and styles.

As well as the KN7000 (the last arranger from Technics), the KN 6500 is powered by the NX sound technology, introduced with the KN6000. Some amazing features are individual equalization settings per tracks, an audio compressor, and up to 5 different audio effects to tailor the sound as you wish.

The output internal speakers of this KN6500 is without any doubt the best that I have ever heard for any arranger of this time. The sound is crystal clear and the bass subwoofer is very efficient.

Probably not the best sounding keyboard, the sounds are still very good.

A few word about the styles, some of them are very good but some other are just average. My favorite keyboard arranger is the Ketron X1 which offered a much better pro sound for the same price. Still, the Technics KN6500 OS is very well done and you can tweak nearly everything inside a visually nice, comfortable, big and effective screen interface.

If you love vintage keyboard arrangers, the Technics KN6500 is a must have. It is better than any previous Technics (KN1000 , KN2000, KN3000, KN5000 and KN6000), and if you're lucky you may get it a lot cheaper than the KN7000.

I am a vintage arranger keyboard and expander fan. I love everything from Gem (WS2, WX2, WK8 and Genesys) and Technics (Roland, Korg and Yamaha too of course !). My two favorite keyboards are the Ketron X1 and Gem Genesys, but I can enjoy everything released in the 90's !
