The SX-KN6500 was released in 2001 and it was Technics flagship arranger keyboard.

This video is the first part of 4 videos, to demonstrate every internal styles of this wonderful keyboard.

Next 3 parts will follow as soon as possible.

In 1999, Technics introduced their KN6000 (successor of the KN5000) but it came with hardware problems. The 6500 is virtually a 6000 but with added sounds and styles, and moreover with several hardware fixes.

Just like the KN7000 (it's successor and last Technics entry in the musical arranger world), the KN 6500 benefits from the NX sound generation, introduced with the KN6000. It has some not common features for an arranger of this time, like individual equalization settings for every tracks, an audio compressor, and up to 5 different audio effects to tailor the sound as you wish.

The output internal speakers system of the Technics KN6500 is without a doubt the best that I have ever heard for any arranger keyboard. The sound is crystal clear and the bass subwoofer does a great job.

Though individual sounds are not the best if you want to play them solo, they sound pretty well when used together.

Not much to say about the styles, some are very good while some other are just not. At the same period, the Ketron X1 offered much better for the same price. But, one of the good point of Technics arrangers is that you can tweak most everything inside a visually nice, comfortable and effective interface.

If you love vintage keyboard arrangers, the Technics KN6500 is a must have. It is better than any previous Technics (KN1000 , KN2000, KN3000, KN5000 and KN6000), and not as overpriced as the KN7000 which doesn't bring so much more for the price.

I am a vintage arranger keyboard and expander fan. Especially, I love everything Gem (WS2, WX2, WK8 and Genesys) and Technics. My favorite arranger is the Ketron X1 but I enjoyed nearly everything released in the 90's !
