STAR WARS The ATARI Years Video Game History - Arcade - VCS - 2600 - 5200 - ST

Join OGDuffy as he takes a look at the short history of Atari Star Wars games featuring the classic Atari Star Wars Arcade through to the Star Wars releases on the VCS 2600 and the 5200 along with the Atari ST.

Atari were a major player in video game history releasing the first licensed Star Wars video game the Empire Strikes Back by Parker Brothers on the cartridge console system the Atari VCS 2600.

This release was closely followed on the same VCS 2600 system when Parker Brothers released Star Wars Jedi Master.

Following this Atari release the arcade classic Star Wars on the arcade using vector graphics and sampled speech was one of the greatest arcade game releases, with the amazing Atari yolk controller and the arcade cockpit design it was a stand out arcade game from the very start.

Parker brothers released Star Wars Arcade on both the Atari VCS 2600 and the Atari 5200 consoles.

Parker Brothers also released Return of the Jedi Death Star Battle on the Atari VCS 2600 system.

Arcade releases of Return of the Jedi by Atari using raster graphics and finally Empire Strikes Back in the arcade release by Atari completed the Atari arcade game releases under the Star Wars franchise.

Where the Atari consoles missed releases the Atari ST home computer stepped in and received releases of Star Wars Arcade, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi all released by Domark.
