Caught In A Storm | No Camping Stove And Two Broken Chainsaws

Описание к видео Caught In A Storm | No Camping Stove And Two Broken Chainsaws

What a wild end to the long weekend. We got caught in a storm and our camp stove and both chainsaws broke.
We may be at out wits end with the property. This land is both stunning and unforgiving.

We started out our morning trying to get the camp stove to keep a flame. We gave up on that and decided to just throw our perk coffee pot in the fire while we trekked down to the truck to get more water We have to carry in and out any food and supplies we need. Thankfully we filled both six gallon jugs before we came out here. Unable to use the stove we resorted to putting our water pot in the fire to heat up so we could have a mountain house meal. While digging through our cache we also found a jar of pickled eggs we forgot about!

Back to work we went, widening the driveway. While felling some of the larger trees Travis’ chainsaw bar got pinched in a falling tree. This caused the chain to come off of the bar. While attempting to repair the chainsaw we found that we couldn’t get the cover back on the engine. With some googling we found out that the reason we couldn’t get it back on was because the break was not in the off position when the cover came off. In order to remedy this issue Travis had to hike down to the truck then make the hour long drive to try and find the right tool.

Then the rain came. A deluge, accompanying our tired and frustrated minds, was quite unpleasant. With a little musical pick me up (*we do not own the rights to the music played in this video) and some laughs we got back out there and completed the driveway. While widening the road Sam’s chainsaw chain came off the bar. We tried to reinstall the chain but one of the guide teeth was bent. Off to the store again but this time at a fast pace. Thankfully, with some quick thinking Sam called the hardware store and asked to buy the chain over the phone and have it left outside since they were closing soon. On the way back Sam stopped at the Blue Bus Diner in Anchor Point, AK. The burgers were phenomenal! It was such a treat to be able to eat food that wasn’t out of a bag

At the end of the day we found that the new chain wasn’t the right size for Sam’s saw. (I should’ve checked the size before tearing off to town but I thought my mind measuring would cut it.) That night around the fire Travis filed guide teeth on the old chain and got it to work again! In the morning we widened the road and packed up to head home. Our next visit to the property will be with an excavator. Until then we plan of fishing to fill our freezer for the year and venturing in our van.
