八市隐身于厦门传统的纵横交错的小巷里，四通八达，附近的老街老巷老楼非常生活化，有厦门现存最早的天主教堂之一的竹树礼拜堂和厦门最早的邮局。八卦埕、九条巷、十一间、河仔乾、打铁街，这些充满厦门味道的名字都是八市附近的老巷子。从古朴、幽暗、喧闹的八市走出，可以到轮渡公交总站，靠近公交站的巨幅广告牌，周遭立刻变成了鲜艳、耀眼、繁华的鹭江道，一个转身，恍如隔世。

Eight cities are hidden in the traditional crisscross alleys of Xiamen, extending in all directions. The nearby old streets and old buildings are very lifelike. There is a bamboo tree chapel, one of the earliest surviving Catholic churches in Xiamen, and the earliest post office in Xiamen. Baguacheng, Jiutiaoxiang, Shishijian, Hezigan, Datiejie, these names full of Xiamen flavor are all old alleys near the eight cities. Walking out of the quaint, dark and noisy Bashi, you can reach the Ferry Bus Terminal, near the huge billboard at the bus station, and the surrounding immediately becomes the bright, dazzling and bustling Lujiang Road. Turning around, it seems like a world away.
