[Meeting with officials at the Han River Flood Control Office in Seoul]

PM Shinawatra: "I would like to ask, suppose that an emergency comes, how can you manage it? Because now the dams are in physical locations in four areas, and this is the control system [here]. Who will do the physical shutdown or reducing of the system? Will you use the control system and force [water movement] to other areas? Or can each area, on its own, carry out your command process?"

Kwon Do-youp, Minister of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs: "The essence of the flood control system is to centralize all the information in this office. We analyze that information and data, we make decisions about flood control, and we distribute this information to the onsite operation teams. K-Water [Korea Water Resources Corporation] is in charge of multiple dam operations at the dam sites."

PM Shinawatra: "We plan to send specialists from Thailand to learn about the Korean water resource management system. It would be ideal to be able to incorporate these new ideas into improving our own system."

PM Shinawatra: "I think we are impressed that you have combined all of the four rivers together. And finally you put the single command, and the single command can [carry out] the process of the forecasting and analysis and finally [it] will give early warning."
