During one of the darkest times in her life, Britney Spears managed to put out Blackout, one of her best albums. It followed her 2003 album, In the Zone. Britney originalyl had an album planned called Original Doll, which was scrapped for unknown reasons. During this time, Britney had begun a relationship with Kevin Federline and the couple starred in a docu-style reality show called Britney and Kevin: Chaotic. Britney had two sons with Federline, Sean and Jayden. While recording Blackout, Britney was embroiled in several controversies, custody battles, and struggled with her mental health. Her big VMA comeback performance of Gimme More was a disaster, and only earned her more criticism. Despite this, the single still performed well. Her other singles, Piece of Me and Break the Ice were well received as well. On Blackout, Britney worked with producers including Danja, Bloodshy & Avant, and the Neptunes. It produces a record that was truly ahead of its time, and has since been nicknamed "The Bible of Pop". Blackout is said to have influenced pop music in the 2010s and the work of current pop artists including Charli XCX, Slayyyter, and Kim Petras.
