SRJ Rhythm Academy is a not-for-profit organization in Brisbane (Australia), that teaches students how to play the mridangam and other Carnatic percussion instruments. It is named after the late Shri Srirangarajapuram Jayaraman Iyer, a senior vidwan from the Shri Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer bani. Our channel SRJ Studio promotes Carnatic music in Brisbane through the online space.

This Thani Avarthanam includes Shri SRJ Ganesh (Srirangarajapuram J Ganesan) on mridangam and Dr Arthavan Selvanathan on kanjira, and has been taken from a studio concert featuring Smt Priya Swaminathan (vocal) and Shri Aswin Narayanan (violin). The krithi selected as the main item was Kamakshi (ragam Varali, composed by Shri Shyama Sastri): the 'Eduppu' is four mathirais before Samum.
