[Re-Up] A Critique of Star Trek Discovery — Part 1

With our apologies for the duplicated content, here's the reupload of part 1 of our Discovery critique. CBS - as it has done on every Trek video we've uploaded - filed a baseless copyright claim on the original video.

Each and every one of the claims they've made - there are five or six now - have been overturned on review, but this process can take a month, during which videos we've spent weeks working on get no views.

They know this, which is why they make the claims. It's a very effective way of suppressing critical content, and Youtube doesn't seem at all concerned that its corporate pals are abusing systems nominally in place to protect people who actually produce content for the platform.

Though we have appealed (again) their claims against the original video, we've taken the view that waiting a month for it to be overturned (again) plays into their hands. Therefore, we've re-uploaded the original video with a couple of minor tweaks to the footage.

The video

Star Trek Discovery Season 4 concluded on Paramount+ this month. And it's... not good. It's completely lost track of the philosophy that defined earlier iterations of Trek - the Original Series and The Next Generation, particularly - while the writing remains as awful as ever, doubling down on all that was bad about the previous seasons while jettisoning what little was good about them.
