Описание к видео Andrew Krakouer: The AFL's OG come-back kid and his inspiring legacy of resilience

In this week’s episode of Paint it Blak, Emma pays tribute to legendary AFL player Andrew Krakouer, who died in Perth this week from a heart attack.
He was 42 years old and leaves a legacy of courage, resilience, strength, and love for his family.

The son of troubled but legendary Indigenous team of the century member Jim Krakouer, Andrew’s potential to play AFL was never in doubt and he was drafted to Richmond Football Club, where he made his debut in 2001.

But everything he’d worked so hard for came crashing down after a fight in Fremantle led to Krakouer spending 16 months in jail.

In this video, Emma explains how despite this set-back Krakouer re-built his life, and with hard work, a strong mindset and support, went from being held in a prison cell, to playing footy again, this time in front of 90,000 people at the MCG on Grand Final day.

Emma also talks about how post-football, Krakouer created a successful media career and supported young Indigenous players through mentorship and even wrote a children’s book.
