the title of the article is "Belgium's support for Taiwan reflects friendly bilateral relations"
the ministry of foreign affairs stated friday that Belgium has shown support for Taiwan three times in eight months
which signifies the strong relations between the two countries
i don't know why i get so happy whenever i hear Taiwan and Belgium having a good relationship
because i really care about... i mean of course Belgium, that's my country
but i really care about Taiwan and i really like that Belgium is showing their support for Taiwan
MOFA (the ministry of foreign affairs) issued a press release friday evening stating that the Belgium senate had passed a resolution to strengthen Taiwan's international status
with 49 votes in favor, zero against (that's a big deal!) and five abstentions earlier that day
the resolution requires the belgian government to bolster relations with Taiwan through the EU
so it can help Taiwan participate in international organizations
such as the world health organization, international civil aviation organization
and united nation framework convention on climate change
as you might know, Taiwan has been excluded from many very important international organizations
especially the world health organization is something i talked about in recent videos,
how it's crazy that Taiwan is such a leading example when it comes to fighting against Covid
but still, Taiwan wasn't allowed to participate and share all their knowledge with the WHO
i thought that was so crazy and it didn't make any sense
so i'm very very happy that Belgium, with 49 votes were all in favor to let Taiwan participate in the future
of these international organizations
and zero votes against. how cool is that?!
additionally, the Flemish parliament passed a legislation
requesting that the Flemish government take action and cooperate with the EU
in order to promote regional peace and stability in cross-trade relations,
support Taiwan's democracy and freedom
as well as its meaningful participation in international organizations
and deepen bilateral economic, cultural and academic exchanges between the EU, Flanders and Taiwan
so that's something i can only be cheerful about
the article ends by saying that "the ministry of foreign affairs pointed out that
the three government institutions in Belgium have shown firm support for Taiwan three times
within eight months with tangible actions which reflects the friendly and warm bilateral relations
between Taiwan and Belgium
so basically Belgium is giving a big hug to Taiwan
