This is my first listen to anything created by N.E.R.D, the experimental band that has inspired many for years. If you’re new to them like I am, No One Really Ever Dies starts off hyper and intimidating with driving punk drums at rapid tempos. However, this is cut down by smooth, funky basslines and vocal performances by Pharrell and a multitude of incredible features. All of the abstract ideas start making sense, making you anticipate the hard left turns this album takes at times.

With this comeback record, N.E.R.D proves why they’ve been influencers since day one.
