MALACHI, THE LAST OF THE OLD PROPHETS, Part 08 - When Did God Become a Silversmith?

There are a number of beautiful threads which act as themes throughout the Book of Malachi. Yahweh's concern for His covenant with Israel is an obvious one, but it is not the only one. We have already considered the theme of 'the messenger' which has profound prophetic significance. Others include: the Temple, the Priesthood, the Father-heart of GOD, and, the Lord's desire for His people to faithful and holy through being judged and purified. In this session we consider this last theme whereby GOD describes Himself as a silversmith and launderer.

The Prophet Malachi was the last of the Old Testament prophets. His book marks the “seal of the prophets”. While this book is a part of the ‘Minor Prophets’, Malachi is not ‘minor’ because it is minor in importance, rather, it is only minor in its size. The Book of Malachi charges the Jewish leaders to prepare for the coming of the Messiah. The Messiah would be preceded by a “messenger” who announce the coming of the Lord GOD - who would be the ‘Messenger of the New Covenant’. In this series we will discover how GOD longed for his leaders, priests, and every husband, to serve God with delight, faithfulness, and heartfelt passion.
