House of Flying Daggers / Lovers (2004) analysed & explained

I analyse and explain the real meaning behind Zhang Yimou's 2004 film, House of Flying Daggers ('Lovers' in its native China), which stars Zhang Ziyi, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro. In my analysis I highlight the political and personal views that most likely shaped the film, making a story that, while on the surface may seem light, is actually much deeper than most might give it credit for.
