NO MACHINE SHOP! $100 383 Budget Engine Rebuild | Mopar Big Block 1972 Challenger |

Today we are diving into how to rebuild an engine for my 72 challenger for under $100. The engine in question is a 1969 383 mopar big block. This engine was a marketplace engine that "ran when parked" and now its my job to tear it down and rebuild it for as cheaply as I can. we need to get this big block ready to race in a few weeks so we don't have much time to waste.

We are going to be ripping apart the block, pulling the pistons out, pulling the crank out, cleaning the block and clearing the oil galleries. then we will do a quick hone job to deglaze the cylinders in preparation for new rings. We will then set crank bearing clearances, install the rear main seal, drop in the crank, install the main studs, drop in the pistons with the new rings, torque everything down, install the camshaft and then the cylinder heads before closing everything up. the process took a few days while I got a few parts but I think the DIY engine rebuild was well worth it.
