Stevie Ray Vaughan MEGA-RARE 1983 Demo Tape. "Dirty Pool" UNHEARD

I bought this off a guy on eBay in about 2000 for $20. He said his dad owned a club in Chicago, Stevie Played there in 1983 and this was the tape Stevie's manager gave him to demo the band when he was booked. It came with a publisher's promo photo of Stevie and a copy of a newspaper article from the Daily News, Sunday May29, 1983, about six months before the release of Stevie's debut/breakthrough 'Texas Flood' album.

The cassette has three songs; two early studio recordings (Rude Mood, Pride and Joy) and a 9 minute plus live recording of Dirty Pool. I was already a hardcore SRV fan and had heard most of what was out there, but I had never heard any of these recordings before. I had the boot 'First Thunder' which featured early SRV&DT studio recordings and which included both Rude Mood and Pride and Joy, but they didn't match. These two songs were a mystery for a few years until they were revealed to be from the 1978 Nashville album that was relocated in a cupboard in Austin a few years later. While it was good to hear the rest of that album, I'll admit that I was a bit disappointed cos suddenly my tape wasn't so 'exclusive' any more.

The live recording of 'Dirty Pool' is however still exclusive to this demo tape; it's a high quality soundboard recording and I've never heard it anywhere else. I have no idea when or where it was recorded, so if you've heard this recording before and can enlighten me about its origins, please leave info in the comments.

Rude Mood
Pride and Joy
