The Real Scientists of San Diego: Kathryn Furby at TEDxUCSD

Описание к видео The Real Scientists of San Diego: Kathryn Furby at TEDxUCSD

Kathryn Furby is working to communicate science in ways that are more than pretty pictures and far from stuffy documentaries. Furby focuses on putting the human narrative back into our stories about science. She is working to harness the power of storytelling to show how anyone can become a scientist.

Currently a Ph.D. student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), Furby travels to some of the most remote places on earth to examine the impacts of climate change on coral reefs. She has taught science communication courses for different age groups in the US and Saudi Arabia.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
