What is out of network billing for physical therapy? My name is Stephen Dunn, Holistic Physical Therapist. I just sent out an email and got a few responses and I wanted to go over that. The questions:
What is out of network billing? Are you taking insurance now? We are talking about private insurance, not Medicare. We are in network with Medicare and accept Medicare for Physical Therapy. If you have private insurance and you have out of network benefits, the this is for you. How does this work and what does it look like for a customer? I am going to give you my experience with my dentist.When I go see my dentist, I give him $200. At some point, maybe 3-4 weeks later I get $100-120 back as a reimbursement from my insurance company. We will still be collecting up front but we will handle everything. We will verify your insurance benefits, bill your insurance and if you have not met your deductible then that credit will go towards your deductible. If you have met your deductible then you will get some money back, typically in 3-4 weeks. That is out of network billing.
