Here’s how to get it blocked, so no one else can use it!!

Through Department of Telecommunications’ Central Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR) portal!

Central Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR) is a central system for all network operators to share black listed mobile phones so that they cannot be used on other networks if the SIM has been changed.

You can block the IMEI number of your lost smartphone through the CEIR portal!

Here’s how you can do it.

1. File an FIR with the police, and keep a copy of the report.
2. Get a duplicate SIM Card issued for the lost number from your telecom service provider to get the OTP.
3. Visit the web portal, fill out the request registration form, and attach a copy of the FIR and address proof to block the IMEI number of their lost/stolen device.
4. Submit the form and note down the generated ‘Request ID’ for future reference. It is advised to keep the ‘Request ID’ safe as it would be needed for unblocking the IMEI in the future.

With that, there are also other things you should get blocked!
