How to make a Crystal clear charcuterie board with epoxy resin, wine corks, and wood

Описание к видео How to make a Crystal clear charcuterie board with epoxy resin, wine corks, and wood

In this weeks video from the Art Lab I create a charcuterie board with wine corks, wood and crystal clear epoxy resin. I normally give some voice over to these videos but for this one I though I would just let the steps I show you do the talking, so if anything doesn't make sense then feel free to ask me any questions in the comments.

How To:
1) Cut out your wood blank
2) Set your mitre saw or table saw to a depth more than half a cork thickness
3) Cut slots/fins in the wood that can be knocked out
4) Use a router to remove the excess wood
5) Tape up the sides where the resin is to go with duct tape
6) Seal the wood with epoxy resin
7) Mix some mica powder or dye with some resin for the background
8) Cut the corks in half and arrange when the color layer is partially dry
9) Once the resin is cured add a coat of clear resin to seal the corks
10) Create a glue damn on either side to prevent resin over-spill
11) Fill to the be level with the wood or slightly over with clear deep pour resin
12) Remove glue and tape
13) Sand through the grits starting with 40grit moving up to 320grit
14) Tape around the underside of the board and also around the face edges leaving and edge with the tape proud by about 10mm (3/8)
15) Pour a top/finishing coat of resin about 5mm (3/16) thick
16) Wait around 20min and remove the tape around the edge and let the resin fall down the edges
17) Using a gloved hand run your finder around the edge to ensure coverage of the wood
18) Use a heat gun to help the resin pour down the edge if it has set too much
19) Cover and wait for the resin to cure
20) Remove the tape on the bottom of the board (Use a heat gun if its not coming off with the resin drips
21) Sand the bottom of the board
23) Wax the bottom of the board with the exposed wood and polish lightly with the resin. the resin will not absorb the wax.

Congratulations you are now complete if you followed the above steps :-)
