"My Wife Heard Me Talking Behind Her Back" | Paul Friedman

There are two big roads that they could have gone down with this. One is, I was talking about her behind her back maybe to one of her friends or our friends or family but I talked about her, I basically dissed her behind her back but she heard me. She caught me and that's a problem. And then the other one is different and it's worse. She heard me talking to another woman so let's deal with the easier one first is you spoke behind your back. You were out of line. You know you shouldn't do that. Why should you not do that? Well, number one is loyalty is like the highest law of marriage. You should be loyal to her and never put her down ever whether it's to her behind your back or even in your own mind. You need to have enough control over your mind so that you don't allow it to go there, just don't. Now you need forgiveness so the number one step that you take is to acknowledge that what you did was off the wall. It wasn't okay and you're not supposed to do that and you know better and if it was turned the other way, you'd be totally upset. So recognizing the offense it's called contrition, recognizing that you did bad and you feel bad -- it's called contrition so that's number one. You got to feel it. You got to take this on. You got to take responsibility for it and then you got to pay the dues.
