Ex Regal Edmonton Christie | Organ Chats | Episode 9

Today, we delve into the history of the Ex Edmonton Christie organ, now located at Paul Kirner's Music Palace in Ynyshir, Porth, South Wales. This Christie organ, dating back to 1934, was initially installed in the Regal Cinema, Edmonton, and opened by organist Sidney Torch. In 1947, Wurlitzer re-built the organ, introducing a Wurlitzer tibia and a new console surround. Although the Regal was transformed into a Bingo Club in 1974, the organ remained in place and continued to entertain patrons. It was relocated to Barry Memorial Hall in 1987 and eventually found its way to its present location at the music palace. The Edmonton Christie celebrated its inaugural concert in 2016, with Paul Kirner at the console.
