Ask the Dust by John Fante (Book Review)

Описание к видео Ask the Dust by John Fante (Book Review)

Arturo Bandini, the greatest writer who ever lived? Or is it Holden Caulfield all grown up?

In this video, I share a book review and some lessons I learned from John Fante's Ask the Dust. Set in 1933 in Los Angeles, it's about a young 22-year-old "wanna be" famous writer Arturo Bandini who is poor, living in a seedy hotel with some odd neighbours, who desperately wants some life experiences that don't have him attacked by Catholic guilt and also to write the great story that will be published and he can become famous. The problem is that no one else sees his genius. Along the way, he falls for a young woman who is just as troubled as he is.

If you have read Charles Bukowski, you may have heard of John Fante or even Arturo Bandini. In fact, Bukowski wrote the introduction to this book.

Have you read it? What are your thoughts?

Hands up who WASN'T Arturo Bandini when they were 22....
