Processing samples for trace metals analysis in the specialty chemical, polymer, and Li-Ion battery industries can be challenging for many laboratories. Many of these matrices by their nature are reactive and require high temperature and pressure capability to achieve complete digestion. In this video we will discuss approaches to digesting these sample matrices and optimizing method development using rotor-based and Single Reaction Chamber (SRC) microwave digestion technologies to achieve superior analytical data via ICP-OES and ICP-MS. As one example, we will explore the emerging field of fused filament fabrication (FFF) or 3D printing, and the need to characterize the filaments for their trace metals content due to the potential health risks these materials may pose to the user.
