On Nanumaga island, they sometimes bury a dead person under the old remains. When we buried Pelike, his elder sister Seleane was unearthed first. The death and how bodies gradually go back to the soil, the islanders observe them as a natural course of life. I find this practice quite conducive to blessing our everyday life.

I have been staying on remote islands in Tuvalu since 2004.
This is from our (I and my 7yr old daughter then) second stay on Nanumaga island.
