Raisin Tea Buns Recipe

Ingredients:

4 cups flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter, cut up
1 cup raisins
1 3/4 cups milk
1 egg whisked with a little water

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 375. Whisk together flour with sugar, salt and baking powder.

2. Add the butter and cut it in using a pastry blender or your whisk until the mixture resembles crumbs.

3. Add the raisins and milk, then mix it together with a wooden spoon or a spatula until a soft dough forms.

4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and lightly keened the dough folding it over three or four times. Once this is done I usually let the dough rest for 15-20 minutes.

5. Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thickness and using a round cookie cutter, cut out your wee little buns and lay them on a parchment lined baking sheets. If you're hard up and need a round cookie cutter just use a soup can. Cut both sides out with a can opener and clean it up.

6. Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes the tops will be golden.

Thank you,
Adam
