Searching Across The World For Trees For Singapore's Gardens By The Bay | ROOTS: A Greening Journey

Development is underway for the new Bay East Garden, part of Gardens by the Bay. Slated for completion in 2027, it will be home to the Founders’ Memorial – a gallery that will honour the values of Singapore’s first Prime Minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew, as well as other pioneers and leaders who were part of the country’s journey to nationhood.

A team of horticulturists from Gardens by the Bay went on an expedition to Latin America. Here, they selected over 30 species of plants for this new garden, searching for interesting trees that look beautiful and can weather the changing climate. Over 700 plants will travel to Singapore, and will grace gardens for the future generations of Singaporeans to enjoy.
